Overview
One of our standout moments from 2024 came during the Walker Town Festival, where we connected with REMA's creative director, Ritchie Igunma.
Following Rema’s headline performance, his team commissioned us to develop a proof-of-concept stage visual for his upcoming HEIS world tour.
The goal was to create a 2D animated visual that echoed the dark, gothic tones: complete with moody atmospheres and swarms of bats, in direct reference to the album cover art..
Challenges & Approach
As for the challenge was time our biggest constraint : we had less than a week to bring the visual to life.
Under the collaboration between Taqiya Naji and Phantasy : we ideated, drew storyboards and did the environment design while outsourcing the 2D animation to talented 2D animators in Nigeria.
The result
The final visual was a striking 2D animated sequence that brought Rema’s gothic vision to life filled with atmospheric design, fluid motion, and a haunting sense of scale. Despite the fast turnaround, the piece captured the dark, bat-filled world referenced in the HEIS tour branding
